Early morning pick-up from your hotel at about 06:30, cross the Taba border, drive along the Red Sea before beginning our climb into the high rose-colored granite mountains of southern Sinai. Cross Bikat Hajaj- Valley of the Pilgrims- with its incredible sandstone formations, finally arriving in the late morning at St. Catherine’s. Visit the famous fortress-like monastery built by the Byzantine emperor Justinian in the 6th century, including the “Burning Bush” and “Jethro’s Well”. After lunch (included) return to Eilat. Included: Transport, sightseeing as per itinerary, lunch, Egyptian escort/guide, entrance fees. Not included: Border fees, tips, drinks, personal insurance of any kind.
Sample 2-day tour to Mt. Sinai (from Eilat)
DAY 1- Early morning pick-up from your hotel at about 06:30, cross the Taba border, drive along the Red Sea taking time to stop for a swim in the Red Sea with its colorful coral reefs. Crossing Bikat Hajaj- Valley of the Pilgrims- we explore incredible sandstone formations, rock inscriptions, and view Ein Hudra oasis, considered by some to be “Hatzerot” of the Exodus. Reaching the high mountains of St. Katherine’s we check into our hotel for the night. Those climbing Mt. Sinai to view the sunrise will need to get to sleep early. After breakfast on DAY 2- Visit St. Katherine’s monastery, have lunch, and return to Eilat in the afternoon. Option: Climb Mt. Sinai on day-1 to avoid the masses of people. Visit the rock inscriptions and swim in the Red Sea (time permitting) on the way back to Eilat.
