Bar & Bat Mitzvahs

There can be no doubt that bringing your Bar or Bat Mitzvah child to Israel to celebrate such a momentous occasion creates memories that are priceless and will be carried by all members of your family for a lifetime! 

 

Where to celebrate

There are actually a number of meaningful sites to celebrate the Bar/Bat Mitzvah.  Traditionally it is done at the Western Wall inside Jerusalem’s Old City, which is a 2000 year old remnant of the retainer walls that encircled the Temple Mount.  Some however choose the Southern Wall, where separation between men and women is not obligatory. Other options include Masada or even one of the ancient Talmudic-period synagogues in Galilee! 

 

Practical arrangements

We can provide any of the following:  Torah scroll, reader, cantor or ba’al-tefilah, minyan participants, a rabbi to deliver a special message, or a Bar/Bat Mitzvah certificate. 

 

Photography & video

The services of a professional photographer or video cameraman can be arranged to document the occasion for family, friends, and to keep for posterity. 

 

Catered Kiddish

There are many choices, depending on what you’re looking for and your budget:  Everything from coffee and cake to brunch in a local garden restaurant, or at one of Jerusalem’s luxury hotels. 

 

Music

If you really want to go all out and liven things up order in a Klezmer band to play traditional Jewish music.

 

Special themes

To add depth and meaning to the occasion we can arrange an inspirational Torah study In Jerusalem based on the weekly parasha reading.  While touring Israel we can also explore some your favorite biblical figures- famous men or women of the Bible- learning about their lives, where they lived, and what made them so special.

 

Fun activities

Israel offers lots of great fun and adventure stuff that really rounds out the Bar/Bat Mitzvah experience and creates memories of a lifetime:  Kosher Bedouin feast in an authentic nomad’s tent- just like in Abraham’s day, camel riding, rafting, nature hikes, and even a bonfire and campouts. JNF tree planting

No tour is really complete without planting a tree in Israel with your own hands.  We’ll do it together, as a family in a Keren Kayemet- Jewish National Fund – forest and take home a certificate to remember the occasion.  

 

Talit & Tefillin

You may want to consider buying a Talit & Tefillin in Israel.  There is a very wide selection of colors, designs, and sizes to be found in Jerusalem.  One should however only buy Tefilin- the klaf (parchments) and boxes from a reputable Sofer or Scribe.
